Into The Jungle

By Orion

"Oh. Hi, Jim."

"Stop waving that brush and drop it."

"It'll get paint all over the floor and..."

"Drop. It. You already got paint all over the floor. And come down the ladder."

"Why the hell are you painting the kitchen?"

"Because it looked dull and needed a paint job?"

"And why do you paint it green?"

"Because it goes great with the wood of the cabinets. Plus, I thought you'd like green. Kinda like jungle green, you know?"

"Do I look like a guy who likes to have a jungle green kitchen?"

"You tell me. It was your idea."

"Look Jim, I'll go get the tub of white from the basement and paint it over, okay? No sweat."

"No, it's okay. It's your kitchen, it was a bad idea."

"Blair, I... shit, I'd just rather you'd asked me, okay?"

"Sure, Jim. It's your kitchen after all. I'll go get the paint."

"Blair, wait."

"Is there still enough left to paint the whole wall green?"

"I think it would look better."

"I did buy the natural odor free, didn't I?"

"No, I... I really mean it. It'll look better."

"You sure?"

"You're not going to change your mind after I'm finished? Like, 'Hey, Sandburg, that green makes me dizzy, I rather want the wall yellow', that sort of thing?"

"You're really, really, absolutely okay with this?"

"Sandburg, if you don't get me a second brush I swear I'm going to use your head to paint that damn wall. Yes, I am okay with this."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

"Yes, Blair?"

"So, since you're okay with painting the wall, why did you explode on me just a few minutes ago?"

"I'm just asking."

"Maybe jungle green wasn't such a good choice after all. I detect a certain ferocity that wasn't there before."

"That has nothing to do with the paint but the painter."

"Ah. Okay. Shall I get you a second brush now?"

"Oh, and be careful. Or you'll get paint on the floor."
